Best Solar Battery in Pakistan (List Of 7 Best Solar Batteries )

Today, we discuss solar batteries in detail. Are you ready to know which is the best Solar Battery in Pakistan? There have been recent advances in battery technology, especially in terms of solar energy. Batteries have a longer life, can hold more charge, and come in smaller sizes.

This is why solar systems are more often combined with batteries today than a few years ago.

It makes more sense for Pakistan, especially where power outages (load shedding) are more common. If you want to install a hybrid or off-grid system and know which battery is best for solar panels in Pakistan, stay with me for a few minutes.

In this article, I will talk about:

  • Factors to consider when selecting energy storage systems (batteries) for solar power plants
  • Best Solar Panel Battery in Pakistan
  • Solar Panel Price in Pakistan
  • Best Lead Acid Battery For Solar Panels In Pakistan
  • Best Lithium Ion Solar Battery in Pakistan
  • Best Solar Battery in Pakistan

First, let’s discuss some factors that make one battery better.

Choosing the Best Solar Battery in Pakistan: Some Factors to Consider

First, I will briefly review some factors you may want to consider when choosing a backup power system for your solar system. Now that you understand tilt angles, let’s explore the different battery.

Battery capacity

Solar batteries store electricity, kind of like a box that holds sunshine power. The bigger the box, the more power it can hold. For example, a 10 kWh battery can store enough energy to power a 10-kilowatt appliance for one hour, and a 100 Ah battery can supply 100 amps for one hour.

In Pakistan, like many places, battery capacity is often measured in ampere-hours (Ah).We usually use 40-50 Ah batteries in our cars.

Battery efficiency

Solar battery efficiency is the percentage of energy retained when the battery is charged. It is expressed as a percentage. For example, a battery with 80% efficiency will retain 80% of the energy used to charge it. The rest will be lost or consumed by the battery’s operating system.

Depth of Discharge (DoD)

DoD stands for Depth of Discharge. It basically means how much of the battery’s power you can use safely without hurting the battery itself. It is expressed as a percentage. This means you can use 80% of the stored power before you need to plug it back in to recharge.

If you discharge it further, you can compromise its lifespan and performance. Lead-acid batteries commonly used in homes and cars have a 50 to 65% DoD. Li-ion batteries have a higher DoD and can reach 95%.

Battery voltage

Batteries come in different voltages, measured in volts (V). A battery with a higher voltage can store more energy than a battery with a lower voltage.

Batteries can come in 12V, 24V and 48V. A 24V 100Ah battery and a 12V 200Ah battery will have the same capacity. Lead acid batteries are usually 12V. So, if your inverter requires 24V, connect two serial batteries to get 24V. Typically, 3kW hybrid inverters require 24V batteries, while 5kW and above inverters require 48V batteries, so you will need to connect the inverter to 4 12V lead acid batteries or one 48V lithium-ion battery.

Battery Type

There are three main choices for solar power batteries: lead-acid, lithium-ion, and flow batteries. Lead-acid batteries are the most popular kind, but they don’t store energy as well as the others. Within lead-acid batteries, there are two other types. Simple lead-acid batteries are affordable but have a shorter lifespan. Tubular batteries are comparatively better.

Battery life

A solar panel’s lifespan depends on its chemistry type and manufacturer. Lithium batteries have a longer lifespan, sometimes more than ten years. Lead-acid batteries last 3-5 years. Some can last up to 7 years with exceptional care and maintenance.

Safety rating

The safety rating of a solar battery is its level of safety, expressed as a number. For example, Solar batteries also have a safety rating. The higher the rating, the better the battery is at protecting itself from things that could damage it or cause problems.

Price of solar panel

Finally, the cost. It’s simple – a battery with good performance will cost more. Lithium batteries are generally the most expensive but often prove cost-effective in the long run. For example, a lithium-ion battery may cost Rs 500,000 but will last for about a year. In a year, it will be Rs 50,000.

As of January 2024, a 200 Ah lead acid battery costs around Rs 36,000-44,000. It depends on the brand you choose and how much power they can store.

Best Solar Panel Battery in Pakistan: A Quick Review

This one is obvious – you’d want to consider any of the lithium batteries above. And why wouldn’t you? They’re better than their lead-acid brethren, both in performance and lifespan. But they’re also some of the most expensive batteries to pair with your solar system.

In Ecospark, I recommend finding a balance between budget and performance. If you can pay more upfront (at the beginning), go for any lithium batteries.

In 2020, I installed a set of 5 lead acid tubular batteries for a client friend in E-11, Islamabad, in his office. And it has been more than three years now, and they are working great. You need to take care of them, not discharge them to the minimum, and everything will be fine.

I wish you all the best. Happy solar energy generation and storage!
